Greetings

August 7, 2006

Tongki is the nickname of our son, Jose Luis Castellon.  He’s fourteen years old. And he has cerebral palsy. The phrase, “thinking out of the box” is one of the most quoted mantras in the modern business world, but in our case it has become a state of mind. Because of my son’s condition, even the most mundane tasks cannot be taken for granted. We always have to think of new ways of doing things. The fact that he is differently-abled does not mean that he should be denied participation in activities, which most of us enjoy.

In the process of caring for our eldest child, we have also been transformed.  We have been healed of our usual biases, which we have picked up along the way. Gone is our usual way of looking at things – those misconceptions we have been fed while we were growing up. We have become open to what new experiences and new people have to offer – in short, we will never look at things the same way again.

Welcome to Tongki’s World.
